SAM Registration
SAM (System for Award Management) registration is a mandatory requirement for any entity that wants to do business with the federal government. SAM is a free, government-operated website (sam.gov) where businesses register to be eligible for federal contracts, grants, and other assistance programs.
The SAM registration process requires providing detailed business information including legal name, DUNS/UEI number, NAICS codes, business size, socioeconomic status, banking information for electronic payments, and points of contact. Registration must be renewed annually to remain active.
An active SAM registration is a prerequisite for receiving federal contract awards. It also makes your business visible to government contracting officers searching for potential vendors. Many proposal submissions require providing your SAM UEI number, and an expired registration can disqualify your proposal.
